Who is Gerry Marsden?
Frederick Marsden and Mary McAlindin welcomed a son named Gerard Marsden into the world on September 24, 1942 at 8 Menzies Street in Toxteth, Liverpool. Gerry developed a love of music at a young age. The Merseybeat band Gerry and the Pacemakers was led by the English singer-songwriter, guitarist, and television personality Gerry Mardsen. He was Freddie Marsden’s younger brother, a bandmate.
Cause of Gerry Marsden’s death
Marsden passed away on January 3, 2021 at Merseyside’s Arrowe Park Hospital after a blood infection in his heart. Age-wise, he was 78. Prior to his death, Marsden had a tripple heart bypass surgery in September 2003 at Broad Green Hospital in Liverpool, and a second heart operation in 2016

They split up somewhere between early and mid 1967, and the most of their later recordings were never made available in the UK. Gerry Marsden rose to fame as a cabaret performer and children’s TV personality. In 1972, the Pacemakers were reconstituted by him and his pianist Jose McLaughlin, together with musicians from Liverpool Billy Kinsley and Pete Clarke.
This second incarnation of the band was the only Merseybeat band to ever record for the John Peel Show on BBC Radio in April 1973. The songs from that performance are currently featured on the Parlophone Records CD Gerry and the Pacemakers Live at the BBC, which was published in October 2018. Since then, Marsden occasionally performed on the oldies circuit with different band lineups untill he retired
