Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the daughter of Sergio Ocasio-Roman and Blanca Ocasio-Cortez (née Cortez), was born on October 13, 1989, in the Bronx neighborhood of New York City. Gabriel is her younger brother’s name. Her mother was born in Puerto Rico, while her father was born in the Bronx to a Puerto Rican family and went on to become an architect. When Ocasio-Cortez was five years old, her family relocated to a home in the suburb of Yorktown Heights after living in an apartment in the Parkchester area of the Bronx.
